Job Description

This Baggage Handler position is full time during the summer season, but is a split shift schedule. Incumbents will work a four (4) hour shift in the morning and a four (4) hour shift in the evening.

Purpose of Position

Incumbent performs duties at the Passenger Depot related to serving the public with baggage issues including customer service, loading baggage, and performing maintenance, janitorial, and landscaping duties.

Responsibilities include:

  • Performing baggage handling duties such as loading/unloading, stowing, and delivering baggage using a forklift.
  • Operating government vehicles (sedans, pickup trucks) with a valid driver’s license.
  • Providing customer service by answering inquiries regarding passenger, baggage, and local transportation information.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the property.
  • Handling issues related to lost or damaged baggage and documenting unresolved problems.
  • Recording train times and communicating with other depots via email or phone.
  • Contributing to team efforts by performing related duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Six months of verifiable front-line customer service experience.
  • Experience in tourism or hospitality industry.
  • Ability to perform maintenance, janitorial, and landscaping duties.
  • Ability to walk, climb in/out of baggage cars, and lift/push/pull 40-100 pounds.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate vehicles and forklifts.

Additional requirements include submitting a current three-year driving record if selected for an interview.
