Job summary

JBS Prepared Foods in Ottumwa, IA is hiring for a Bacon Production Hourly position. You will join a team dedicated to producing high‑quality sliced meats, with a focus on safety and consistency in a fast‑paced plant.

This role requires working in cool conditions, lifting up to 50 lbs, and performing repetitive hand motions. Training in safety, GMP, and quality standards is provided, with overtime and weekend shifts possible during heavy seasons.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 months experience in a manufacturing environment within the last 5 years; 1+ years preferred.
• Minimum of 6 months in previously held positions.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture product consistent with product specifications for the assigned work area.
• Complete mandatory safety training as outlined for the job assignment.
• Complete mandatory food safety/GMP training as outlined for the job assignment.

Job Title: Bacon Production Hourly

Location: Ottumwa IA

JBS Prepared Foods is hiring for quality, motivated, people to join the JBS team in our Bacon Department!

Key Responsibilities And Accountability include But Are Not Limited To

• Manufacture product consistent with product specifications for the assigned work area.


• Complete mandatory safety training as outlined for the job assignment.


• Complete mandatory food safety/GMP training as outlined for the job assignment.


• Assist with product reconditioning as needed and directed

Qualifications/Requirements Include

• Minimum of 3 months experience working in a similarly situated manufacturing company in the previous 5 years; 1+ years of experience preferred


• Minimum of 6 months in previously held positions

Applicants should be willing or capable of working and performing jobs in the following areas in the plant:

• Work in an areas where livestock is being killed


• Work regularly in temperatures are near or below freezing (Coolers, Loading Dock Freezer)


• Work in areas with unpleasant odors


• Work in damp or cold conditions (35-45 Degrees)


• Work in extreme heat (minimal)


• Work in areas that require you to lift, pull, or push 50 lbs.


• Work with sharp knives or a cutting tool


• Willing and capable of working overtime when necessary (Heavy Season- August-February)


• Available to work days and nights


• Willing and capable of working Saturdays


• Willing and capable of working in or around bloody areas, in a fast-paced work environment, performing repetitive hand motions and body movements. Physical demanding jobs may take 5 to 6 weeks for the body to fully adjust to the work conditions, work environment, and job descriptions.
