Job summary

JBS Prepared Foods in Ottumwa, IA seeks a Bacon Production Hourly worker to join our bacon department. You will manufacture product per specifications and complete safety and GMP training.

This role supports a fast-paced production line and requires strict adherence to quality and safety standards. Candidates must have at least 3 months of manufacturing experience, be able to lift up to 50 lbs, work in cold environments, and be available to work days, nights, and Saturdays.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 months experience in a similar manufacturing setting within the last 5 years; 1+ years preferred.
• Willingness to work overtime, including peak season (August–February).
• Ability to work in cold temps, damp or challenging environments, and in areas with strong odors.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture product in line with specifications for the assigned area.
• Complete mandatory safety training.
• Complete mandatory food safety/GMP training.
• Assist with product reconditioning as needed and directed.

Job Title: Bacon Production Hourly

Location: Ottumwa IA

JBS Prepared Foods is hiring for quality, motivated, people to join the JBS team in our Bacon Department!

Key Responsibilities and Accountability include but are not limited to:

• Manufacture product consistent with product specifications for the assigned work area.


• Complete mandatory safety training as outlined for the job assignment.


• Complete mandatory food safety/GMP training as outlined for the job assignment.


• Assist with product reconditioning as needed and directed

Qualifications/Requirements include:

• Minimum of 3 months experience working in a similarly situated manufacturing company in the previous 5 years; 1+ years of experience preferred


• Minimum of 6 months in previously held positions

Applicants should be willing or capable of working and performing jobs in the following areas in the plant:

• Work in an areas where livestock is being killed


• Work regularly in temperatures are near or below freezing (Coolers, Loading Dock Freezer)


• Work in areas with unpleasant odors


• Work in damp or cold conditions (35-45 Degrees)


• Work in extreme heat (minimal)


• Work in areas that require you to lift, pull, or push 50 lbs.


• Work with sharp knives or a cutting tool


• Willing and capable of working overtime when necessary (Heavy Season- August-February)


• Available to work days and nights


• Willing and capable of working Saturdays


• Willing and capable of working in or around bloody areas, in a fast-paced work environment, performing repetitive hand motions and body movements. Physical demanding jobs may take 5 to 6 weeks for the body to fully adjust to the work conditions, work environment, and job descriptions.
