Dynamic Service Solutions in Houston, TX is seeking a Background Check Specialist to support ORR background investigations, coordinating and documenting requests and results.

You will guide staff through the process, conduct audits, stay current with laws, and provide updates to HR and management.

This role requires high school diploma, some college preferred, and strong computer and communication skills; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

• Experience with Federal government contracts is preferred.
• Experience in human services fields is a plus.

Job Summary

The Background Check Specialist is responsible for helping with the background check investigation process. Coordinating and documenting required background check requests and results. Conducts quality assurance reviews to ensure background checks are submitted completely and accurately prior to submission and within the required timeframes and deadlines.

Essential Functions

• Guide staff through completing all required components of the background check process, including FBI fingerprinting, Child Abuse/Neglect Registry checks, Annual Affidavit, Background re-check and other required screenings, to ensure compliance with ORR, federal and state regulations.
• Submit completed background check packets and supporting documents to ORR; track responses and maintain official eligibility and suitability letters for staff working in programs.
• Conduct regular audits to ensure all background check–related documentation, including annual affidavits and verification forms, are complete, accurate, and up to date in staff files.
• Stay current with ORR, federal, and state requirements related to background checks and ensure all processes follow established standards, timelines, and confidentiality protocols.
• Provide clear guidance and updates to staff, supervisors, managers and HR regarding background check requirements, timelines, and results, ensuring staff understand each step of the process. and resolve any discrepancies or disputes.
• Monitor background check results, identify missing or inconsistent documentation, and elevate issues to management or compliance teams to ensure timely resolution and uninterrupted program operations.
• Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education/Work Experience:

Level :High School Diploma

• Bachelor's Degree in HR, Criminal Justice, Psychology / Sociology or related field, is preferred.
• 3yearsofexperienceinasimilar position.
• PreviousexperienceworkingwithFederalgovernmentcontractsispreferred.
• Previousexperienceworkinginhumanservicesfieldsorsimilaroccupationalareisisaplus.
• Strongcomputerskills(MicrosoftOffice,SharePoint,OneDrive)withtheabilitytolearnnew software.
• Must have good communication and project management skills.

Work is performed mostly in an office setting. Some overnight travel; public speaking, evening and weekend work are requirements of the position. Regular computer work is also required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; finger, handle, or feel objects, or control; reach; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five(25) pounds.
