Job summary

Qcells North America is seeking a Backend Engineering Manager to lead the architecture, development, and operation of backend services powering our mobile and web applications, device systems, and homeowner experiences. You will guide a distributed team across time zones, shaping scalable, secure cloud-based platforms that support telemetry, workflows, asset management, and integrations.

You will partner with Product, Mobile, Web, TPM, and Hardware teams, drive technical strategy, and champion

Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend software development experience.
• 3+ years in engineering management leading backend teams.
• Strong expertise in distributed systems and cloud platforms.
• Experience with microservices architecture and scalable databases.
• Excellent communication and cross-team alignment skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 15%.
• Experience with global/remote or multi-region teams.
• Experience with solar/renewable energy or IoT a plus.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the backend technical roadmap for mobile, web, and device software.
• Own backend architecture including microservices, data models, APIs, and event streams.
• Ensure seamless integration with cloud services and device software.
• Champion reliability, observability, security, and cloud-native deployments.
• Lead, mentor, and grow backend engineers across multiple time zones.
• Collaborate with Product, Mobile, Web, SQA, and Hardware teams.
