Position Summary

As a Backend Engineer (Infrastructure) at HeyGen, you’ll spearhead the development of core systems and infrastructure crucial to powering our products. Your expertise will be instrumental in crafting scalable, reliable, and efficient backend systems tailored to accommodate our expanding user base.

Key Responsibilities

• System Development: Design, develop, and deploy scalable and efficient foundational systems. Examples include:
  • Data Infrastructure: Forge the next‑generation data systems to fuel our analytics.
  • Streaming Infrastructure: Lay the groundwork for our innovative Streaming Avatar product.
  • ML Infrastructure: Construct the ML training infrastructure to enhance our AI researchers’ productivity, and inference systems to optimize the scalability and performance of our video GenAI.
  • Image/Video Infrastructure: Establish the bedrock to empower our avatar video capabilities.
  • Dev Tools: Create developer tools to enhance velocity.
• Collaboration: Work closely with product engineers and AI researchers to deliver best‑performing systems.
• Performance Monitoring: Monitor backend systems for performance, errors, and anomalies. Implement fixes and improvements as needed.
• Code Quality: Maintain high code quality through regular code reviews, pair programming, and writing unit and integration tests.
• Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest system technologies and best practices to ensure HeyGen remains at the forefront of technology.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in backend development.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, C++, or Java.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Strong knowledge of API design and development.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with container orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
• Experience with Graphics API like OpenGL, Vulkan, etc.
• Experience with Streaming protocol like WebRTC.
• Experience with Machine Learning Infrastructure especially computer vision.
• Familiarity with microservices architecture.
• Prior experience in a startup or fast‑paced tech environment.

Salary Range

$180,000 – 240,000 annually
