Digital Waffle in San Francisco is seeking a hands-on backend engineer to design and build distributed services capable of high throughput and reliability. This role requires ownership of deployment, observability, and performance, with architectural influence to scale the platform over the coming years.

You will work in person with a senior team, owning critical decisions that ship rapidly and matter, with relocation support available for strong candidates from across the US and Europe.

Qualifications

• Backend experience in Go, Rust, Java, Python, or similar.
• Distributed systems: consensus, replication, queues, caching, data partitioning.
• You’ve been paged at 3am, found the root cause, and made sure it never happened again.
• Bonus: Kafka, or experience at a high-scale infra-heavy startup.
