Job summary

LaunchDarkly is seeking a Backend Engineer to grow Vega, our AI-powered platform that surfaces insights and automates actions across LaunchDarkly products. You will build APIs, Go services, and data pipelines at scale, expanding Vega from Observability into a cross-product platform for Feature Management customers and a new usage-based SKU.

You'll work with product, design, and engineering teams to design, implement, and operate high-throughput systems, with a focus on reliability,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience shipping backend systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship backend features across the Vega platform (APIs, Go services, agent infrastructure, and data pipelines)
• Own features end-to-end from prototype through production rollout
• Operate high-throughput data systems for reliability and cost efficiency
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering across Observability and Feature Management
• Participate in architecture discussions and design reviews with a focus on quality and observability
• Write well-tested, maintainable code and promote best practices
• Mentor teammates and contribute to a collaborative engineering culture
• Participate in on-call rotations and production reliability ownership
• Design and operate safe AI agent execution infrastructure with isolation and permissions
• Build data import/export pipelines to connect Observability to other platforms
• Create dashboards via natural language prompts and extend Vega infrastructure
• Develop metering and usage pipelines for a usage-based model
• Contribute to architecture decisions and code reviews across teams
