Job summary

Freehand is building the backend foundation for autonomous enterprise AI. We design distributed systems, APIs, and agent infrastructure that securely execute money and risk‑bearing workflows across ERP and financial rails.

You’ll own scalable services, orchestration, and compliance in a high‑scope environment. This role emphasizes reliability, observability, and performance, with global impact and opportunities to shape next‑gen enterprise AI tooling.

Qualifications

• Strong experience building production backend systems.
• Proficiency in Python, NodeJS, Go, or similar backend languages.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, APIs and microservices, SQL/NoSQL databases, and message queues/event-driven architecture.
• Proven experience designing scalable, fault-tolerant systems.
• Experience building workflow engines or state-driven systems is a plus.
• Experience with financial/enterprise SaaS data handling is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable backend services powering AI agent execution.
• Develop orchestration for complex enterprise workflows and policy enforcement.
• Implement APIs and integrations with ERPs, procurement tools, and payment rails.
• Build observability, auditing, and traceability for AI-driven decisions.
• Ensure secure, reliable, and compliant data handling in backend systems.
• Optimize latency, throughput, and cost at scale across global customers.
• Coordinate multi-agent workflows and agent-runtime environments.
• Create automated tests and evaluation harnesses for agent pipelines.
