Overview
Backend Engineer (Remote, USA)
Industry: Cloud-native software & SaaS solutions for enterprise-grade web and mobile platforms. Sector: digital product engineering delivering scalable, secure backend services and APIs to support B2B and developer-centric workflows.
We are hiring a pragmatic, performance-minded Backend Engineer to join a remote-first team that builds resilient, cloud-native systems used by customers across the US. You will design and implement core services, APIs, and data-layer components that power high-throughput, low-latency applications.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable backend services and RESTful/GraphQL APIs using modern frameworks and clean architecture principles.
- Own end-to-end delivery for features: from requirements and design to testing, CI/CD, and production rollout with observability and alerts.
- Collaborate with Product, Frontend, and DevOps to define APIs, data models, and integration patterns; translate requirements into reliable code.
- Write robust automated tests (unit & integration), perform code reviews, and drive high code quality and documentation standards.
- Optimize services for performance, reliability, and cost—profile bottlenecks, tune databases/queries, and design caching strategies.
- Implement secure patterns: authentication/authorization, input validation, secrets management, and vulnerability remediation.
Skills & Qualifications

- Solid experience with relational and NoSQL databases (Postgres/MySQL and at least one NoSQL store) and data modelling for scale.
- Hands-on with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), containerization (Docker) and container orchestration concepts (Kubernetes).
- Practical knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Git-based workflows, and automated testing practices.
- Strong debugging and observability skills—logs, metrics, tracing (Prometheus/Grafana, ELK, OpenTelemetry).
- Excellent communication, ownership mindset, and experience working in distributed/remote teams.
Preferred- Experience with microservices, event-driven architectures (Kafka/RabbitMQ), and serverless functions.
- Familiarity with GraphQL, API gateway patterns, and advanced caching strategies (Redis/CDNs).
- Background in security best practices, performance tuning, and production incident response.
Benefits & Culture Highlights
- Remote-first, USA-based roles with flexible schedules and asynchronous collaboration.
- Opportunities for technical ownership, career growth, and mentorship within a product-focused engineering culture.
- Learning and tooling stipend, regular knowledge-sharing sessions, and emphasis on work-life balance.
