Job description

NVIDIA's invention of the GPU in 1999 sparked the growth of the PC gaming market, redefined modern computer graphics, and revolutionized parallel computing. More recently, GPU deep learning has ignited modern AI, positioning the GPU as the brain of computers, robots, and self-driving cars that can perceive and understand the world.

We are looking to grow our company and our teams with the smartest people in the world. We need a Computer Science or Computing Engineer to support our NVIDIA Back End Compiler Team. The Compiler team builds and emits the highest-performance GPU machine instructions for Graphics (OpenGL, Vulkan, DX) and Compute (CUDA, PTX, OpenCL, Fortran, C++), driving performance on NVIDIA's complex parallel SIMT architectures.

What you'll be doing
  • Investigate problems or improvement opportunities within the NVIDIA Compiler Back End, leveraging your compiler experience and knowledge.
  • Work with global compiler, hardware and application teams to oversee improvements and problem resolutions.
  • Contribute to a team at the center of deep‑learning compiler technology, spanning architecture design and functional language support.
What we need to see
  • Recent graduate with a Bachelors or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Successful completion of an undergraduate Compiler Design class; background in LLVM code generation.
  • Strong writing and oral skills, and adherence to best practices for Software Engineering.
  • Proficient coding skills in C/C++.
Ways to stand out from the crowd
  • Graduate coursework in Compiler Design and Construction.
  • Hands‑on experience with backend compiler design and code generation.
  • Background in LLVM code generation including instruction scheduling, software pipelining, register allocation, GlobalISel, TableGen, LLVM IR, and Machine IR (MIR).
  • Experience in GPU and parallel architectures; CUDA/PTX; Graphics APIs (OpenGL, DX, Vulkan) is a plus.

Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions. The base salary range is 108,000 USD – 178,250 USD for Level 1, and 124,000 USD – 195,500 USD for Level 2.
