Job summary

You will work across research, safety, and API teams to implement new capabilities, optimize performance, and improve observability and diagnostics for developers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building and operating backend services or developer APIs.
• Strong fundamentals in distributed systems, concurrency, and async execution.
• Experience diagnosing production failures with observability data.
• Ability to translate complex capabilities into dependable APIs.
• Experience owning ambiguous technical problems end-to-end.
• Clear communication across engineering, research, product, and safety.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate APIs and backend services for frontier models.
• Collaborate with Research, Safety, Codex, and API teams to define behavior.
• Develop API capabilities for agent workflows, including task delegation and parallel execution.
• Improve reliability for long-running requests including timeouts and streaming.
• Enhance performance and tail latency via profiling and efficient code.
• Turn feedback and failures into improved observability and product enhancements.
