Job summary

Freight Handlers (FHI) is seeking an experienced Back-Up Lead to supervise unloading operations and coordinate activities in our warehouse. This role combines leadership with hands-on production unloading and ensures daily reporting to the corporate office.

Back-up leads distribute unloading assignments to handlers and coordinate unloading activities. At the direction of the production manager, Back-up leads manage the completion of administrative paperwork for reporting daily activity to the corporate office and have some responsibility for ensuring compliance with all FHI policies and procedures. Responsibilities

• Adaptability and the ability to handle high-pressure situations are essential.

• In a fast‑paced environment, safely and efficiently unload tractor trailers delivering products to our distribution warehouses.
• Use a variety of forklifts to remove products from trailers.
• Break down pallets and restack cases onto new pallets – this is where the manual labor comes in!
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required

Experience: Experience in managing and leading a team is essential Requires a combination of leadership, organization, problem‑solving, and technical skills to ensure the smooth functioning of the warehouse department.

Strong communication skills are essential for interacting with team members,other departments, and external stakeholders like suppliers and customers.

Work Environment

This position is designated as safety‑sensitive by the company, and the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is required. Warehouse environment with extreme heat and cold temperatures

Physical Demands

• Ability to lift, walk, bend, twist, reach, push and squat most of the workday.
• Handle cases weighing from 25 to 95 pounds and can expect to handle between 50 and 200+ pallets on any given day.
• The ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds (e.g., machinery alarms or alarms) in moderate to loud work environments.
