Back Shift Supervisor - Decatur, IL

Job Summary
The employee supporting the Maintenance Supervisor position will utilize the tools of the Maintenance Management System to review and implement the maintenance activities designed to support the process equipment at the Corn Plant. The Supervisor will be a liaison between the Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering Departments while implementing or executing break in maintenance activities. The Supervisor will be responsible for monitoring the assigned maintenance activities and for ensuring that the required parts, tools, PPE, and resources to support the planned activities are available. The Maintenance Supervisor is expected to train, and/or mentor the maintenance work force to develop their skills and abilities and to provide feedback to the employees as part of the PMP Process. The Supervisor is expected to support the use of the CMMS (Maximo) by ensuring that work orders are closed with appropriate details and new work orders are generated based on the results of each workday. This position is a 12 hr rotating shift position.

Essential Job Functions

  • Adhere to all plant safety and operating guidelines.
  • Perform as a team member while executing the planned, preventative, and/or predictive maintenance activities that support the reliability efforts of the Maintenance Department.
  • Utilize the Maintenance Management System to ensure that assigned work orders are closed with appropriate details and new work orders are generated based on the day’s activities.
  • Review job requests to ensure they are accurate and executable.
  • Effectively utilize the assigned craft resources and prioritize unscheduled activities.
  • Train and/or mentor the work force to develop their skills and abilities – support the existing Apprentice Programs.
  • Support the Performance Review Program while providing appropriate feedback to the assigned employees.
  • Understand their role in food safety and quality systems, actively participate in food safety efforts, and ensure all activities conform to good manufacturing practices.

Education/ Experience

  • Two year technical degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with maintenance work management including job planning, preparation, scheduling, and supervision.
  • Detailed understanding of Food Manufacturing Plant Operation and Maintenance Special Skills.
  • Good communication, writing, and speaking skills for coordination and reporting.
  • Working knowledge of computer software (i.e. Microsoft Office, MMS (Maximo)).

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to work in a variety of environmental conditions, such as hot and cold temperatures and dusty environment.
  • Climb stairs, some lifting, sit and stand for long periods, work in confined spaces, work with heights, bending, kneeling, and respirator qualified.
