Job summary

Beacon Health System is seeking a Babysitting Attendant to provide short-term care for infants, toddlers, and young children in the babysitting room at Beacon Health and Fitness. You will assist with information desk duties, light maintenance, and securing the facility as needed.

Responsibilities include supervising children, sanitizing toys and spaces, recording daily logs, and ensuring safe handoffs to authorized caregivers.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; minimum age 17.
  • Six months to one year of childcare, receptionist, or customer service experience preferred.
  • Demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills with a diverse audience.
  • Requires CPR/First Aid certification or plan to obtain within three months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and supervise infants, toddlers, and young children in the babysitting room to ensure safety.
  • Perform information desk duties: greet clients, log memberships, answer inquiries, and process transactions.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitization of the babysitting area and equipment; complete cleaning logs daily.
  • Enforce child security procedures and ensure proper pickup by approved persons.
  • Follow emergency procedures and uphold BHF rules and policies at all times.

Reports to the Director, Beacon Health and Fitness. Under the general supervision of the Babysitting Coordinator, is responsible for providing short term care of infants, toddlers and young children in the babysitting room. May also be requested to perform functions of the information desk, minor maintenance, cleaning and securing the facility.

Performs Infant, Toddler And Young Childcare As Directed
  • Monitoring and supervising infants, toddlers, and young children to ensure their safety and comfort while parents are utilizing the BHF.
  • Maintaining the equipment, furnishing, etc., of the childcare area, in accordance with established procedures.
  • Conducting activities, games, crafts, etc. to educate and/or entertain children.
  • Assists in sanitizing babysitting area including toys, tables, chairs and counter tops as well as fully maintaining cleaning log on a daily basis.
  • Securing childcare area at end of shift to ensure toys, furnishings, equipment and supplies are stored in appropriate place as well as first aid kits are fully stocked, and logs are current.
  • Enforcing the child security procedures to ensure children are picked up by approved person(s).
  • Reports any incidents to the children's parent(s) within 5 minutes of an occurrence.
Performs information desk duties, minor maintenance, cleaning and securing the BHF by:
  • Greeting clients, receiving membership cards, monitoring clients' access and logging information into computer system, as appropriate.
  • Answering client questions and inquiries regarding BHF operations, including demonstrating or answering questions on the club policy and procedure.
  • Following emergency procedures as outlined in operations manual.
  • Applying and enforcing BHF rules and regulations, as directed.
  • Receiving complaints, comments, and/or suggestions from clients and promptly taking appropriate actions; utilizing BHF's seek-to-serve policy.
  • Maintaining adequate supplies of items such as: cups, towels, toiletries, forms and brochures.
  • Performing regularly scheduled light cleaning maintenance duties, i.e., vacuuming, dusting, collecting towels, glass cleaning, wiping sinks and countertops.
  • Folding and maintaining towel supplies in locker rooms.
  • Processing and completing sales and balancing the cash drawer on a shift basis.
  • Opening and/or closing and securing BHF at scheduled time when needed, or as directed otherwise.
Organizational Responsibilities
Associate complies with the following organizational requirements
  • Attends and participates in department meetings and is accountable for all information shared.
  • Completes mandatory education, annual competencies and department specific education within established timeframes.
  • Completes annual employee health requirements within established timeframes.
  • Maintains license/certification, registration in good standing throughout fiscal year.
  • Direct patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS (CPR) and other certifications as required by position/department.
  • Consistently utilizes appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self.
  • Adheres to regulatory agency requirements, survey process and compliance.
  • Complies with established organization and department policies.
  • Available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required.
Education and Experience
  • The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are acquired through the successful completion of a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Must be a minimum of 17 years of age. Six months to one year experience providing childcare as well as a receptionist, front desk attendant or in a customer service role is preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Demonstrates the interpersonal skills and communication skills (both verbal and written) necessary to interact effectively with a diverse group of internal callers, clients, visitors, etc. in a professional, courteous, friendly and sincere manner.
  • Requires certification in CPR/AED and First Aid or arrangements to be certified within three months of employment.
  • Requires the phone skills according to Beacon's telephone usage standards.
  • Requires the ability to operate and balance a point-of-sale register on a shift basis.
  • Requires the ability to work flexible hours, including weekends.
  • Possesses a personal commitment to positive fitness and health practices and presents an image consistent with a fit and healthy lifestyle.

Working Conditions
  • Works in an athletic club environment with frequent interruptions, potential of increased noise level and some discomfort due to cool temperatures.
