Job summary

Trident Seafoods in Alaska is seeking a Baader Technician I to perform skilled maintenance on Baader filleting, trimming, skinning and mincing machines at production facilities and vessels.

You will troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems, adjust guides and knives, ensure conversion factors and yields meet specifications, and document maintenance work. The role requires at least two years on Baader equipment and a high school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years maintenance on Baader manufacturing equipment.
• HS diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
• Baader Certificate or equivalent training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Repairs and maintains the Baader electrical systems (encoders, clock generators, proximity switches, limit switches, step motors and controllers).
• Repairs and maintains the mechanical systems of Baader filleting machines (chain drives, bearings, belt drives, pulleys, back guides, bone guides, step motor belts, gearboxes).
• Sets and adjusts guides, knives, spike chains and sliding blocks per specifications and safety procedures.
• Makes adjustments to achieve desired conversion factors and yield ratios.
• Tests machines to verify step motors and tooling are set up and running properly.
• Completes related maintenance documentation (logbooks, work orders, test reports, inventories).
• Performs similar maintenance on Ryco, Berger process equipment.
• Observes and implements safe work procedures.

Responsibilities

The Baader Technician I performs skilled machine maintenance work at production facilities and/or onboard vessels at various locations as assigned. This work includes assembling, rebuilding, repairing, and maintaining Baader fish filleting machines, Baader fish trimming machines, Baader scaling machines, Baader fish skinning machines, and/or Baader fish mincing machines by performing the following duties:

Key Responsibilities:

• Repairs and maintains the Baader electrical systems (includes angle encoders, clock generators, proximity switches, limit switches, step motors and controllers).

• Repairs and maintains the mechanical systems of fish filleting machines (includes chain drives, bearings, belt drives, pulleys, back guides, bone guides, step motor belts, and gearboxes).

• Sets and adjusts the machine’s guides, knives, spike chains and sliding blocks in accordance with operational specifications and safety procedures.

• Makes adjustments to ensure that the desired conversion factors and yield ratios are being successfully achieved.

• Tests the machines to verify step motors and tooling are set up and running properly.

• Completes related maintenance documentation which may include machine logbooks, work orders, test reports, part inventories and part orders.

• Performs previously listed responsibilities on Ryco, Berger, etc. process equipment.

• Understands and able to implements safe work procedures.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Acquires knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.

• Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

• Minimum 2years maintenance experience working on Baader manufacturing equipment.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred qualifications:

• Baader Certificate or equivalent training and experience.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
