Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a data engineering expert to build, optimize, and manage large-scale data pipelines and solutions powering critical business insights. The role emphasizes T-SQL, Spark, and cloud-native workflows using Azure Synapse and Data Lake Storage.

You will architect end-to-end ETL/ELT, collaborate with analysts and data scientists, and ensure governance and security across Azure data services. Hybrid Indianapolis contract role with competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience in data or software engineering roles.
• Advanced skills in T-SQL and performance tuning in large-scale distributed environments.
• Proficient use of Apache Spark within Synapse or Databricks using Scala and/or Python.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement data pipelines, data lakes, and warehouse models using Azure Synapse Analytics.
• Develop and optimize complex T-SQL queries, views, stored procedures, and data transformations for large-scale datasets.
• Leverage Apache Spark (via Synapse) to process and transform datasets using Scala and/or Python.
• Collaborate with analysts, data scientists, and stakeholders to deliver reliable data solutions.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize performance across Synapse pipelines, Spark pools, and Azure data services.
