Job summary

Broadleaf Services in Manassas, VA, is seeking a Senior Database Engineer to own Azure SQL Managed Instances, optimize SQL Server performance, and drive data-platform modernization. You will design IaC workflows, automate deployments with Git, Terraform, Bicep/ARM, and implement DB DevOps with CI/CD pipelines and robust rollback procedures.

A strong focus on security, identity management, backups, monitoring, and cost-performance discipline will be essential to support AI-enabled applications

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of SQL Server internals and T-SQL performance tuning.
• Experience managing Azure SQL Managed Instances and HA architectures.
• Ability to pass a security screening and implement IaC workflows.

Responsibilities

• Maintain core database health with SQL Server and T‑SQL tuning.
• Architect and manage Azure SQL MI, sizing and backups.
• Lead migrations from on-premises SQL Server (and Oracle) to Azure MI.
• Automate DB environments using PowerShell, Azure CLI, Git, and IaC.
• Implement Database DevOps with CI/CD pipelines and rollbacks.
• Enforce security with Entra ID, roles, and secrets management.
• Build monitoring via Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.
• Support data governance, metadata, and AI data integration.
