Qualifications

• 6+ years in Azure administration or cloud engineering.

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Azure Platform Engineer to support and optimize a Microsoft Azure environment, with a strong focus on Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), Windows Server administration, and cloud infrastructure operations. This role will be responsible for day-to-day platform management, monitoring, troubleshooting, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives that support business-critical systems and end users.

This is a temp-to-hire opportunity offering a pathway to a permanent full-time position for the right individual.

What You’ll Do

• Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Azure-hosted Windows Server environments, including patch management, performance tuning, configuration management, and availability monitoring
• Manage Azure infrastructure services including virtual machines, storage accounts, networking, backup solutions, identity services, firewalls, and security controls
• Serve as the primary administrator for Azure Virtual Desktop environments, supporting host pools, session hosts, workspaces, application groups, user assignments, and profile management
• Monitor system health, capacity, utilization, and end-user experience through Azure monitoring tools, dashboards, logging, and alerting platforms
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, standards, procedures, and operational runbooks
• Collaborate with IT teams, security personnel, and business stakeholders to resolve technical issues and improve the reliability and scalability of cloud services
• Identify opportunities for automation, process improvement, and platform optimization to enhance operational efficiency
• Support ongoing cloud modernization and infrastructure improvement projects

What You’ll Bring

• 6+ years of experience in Azure administration, cloud infrastructure engineering, systems engineering, or enterprise IT operations
• Strong experience supporting Windows Server environments, including troubleshooting, performance management, security, permissions, patching, and backup processes
• Microsoft Azure certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-140, AZ-500, AZ-700, or equivalent experience
• Hands-on experience with Azure Virtual Desktop administration and optimization
• Experience with FSLogix, Azure Files, image management, autoscaling, and virtual desktop performance tuning
• Experience working with Nerdio or similar AVD management platforms
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, Conditional Access, RBAC, MFA, Intune, Group Policy, and endpoint management technologies
• PowerShell scripting and infrastructure automation experience
• Strong understanding of Azure services including compute, storage, networking, identity, security, monitoring, backup, and cost optimization
• Experience supporting virtual desktop infrastructure solutions and end-user computing environments
• Excellent problem-solving skills across cloud infrastructure, networking, identity, endpoint access, and user experience challenges
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create technical documentation and collaborate effectively across teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working within highly regulated, security-focused, or compliance-driven environments
• Familiarity with cloud governance, operational best practices, and infrastructure lifecycle management
• Experience participating in cloud migration, modernization, or transformation initiatives
