Job summary

Request Technology, LLC is seeking a Windows and Linux Systems Engineer in Chicago to manage day-to-day server operations, improve security posture, and optimize cloud infrastructure. You will work across Windows and Linux environments, leveraging Azure, PowerShell, and automation tools to drive enterprise-scale projects.

The role requires strong virtualization experience with VMware vSphere, Nutanix Acropolis, and Hyper‑V, plus Active Directory and cloud services.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience.
Experience: 5–7 years IT infrastructure experience, 3+ years in large Windows and virtualization environments.
Virtualization Expertise: Hands-on with VMware vSphere/ESXi, Nutanix Acropolis, and Hyper-V.
System Administration: Windows Server 2016–2025; Linux (RHEL/Ubuntu).
Cloud Knowledge: Azure (IaaS, Entra AD Connect, RBAC, ASR, Backup).
Directory & Identity: Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPOs, Certificate Services.
Monitoring & Configuration: SCOM, Zabbix, SCCM, Ansible Tower.
Security & Scripting: Patch management, vulnerability remediation, PowerShell scripting.

Responsibilities

Provide advanced administration and Level 2 support for global Windows and Linux environments; manage hypervisors including VMware vSphere, Nutanix Acropolis, and Hyper-V.
Administrate and maintain Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPOs, and Certificate Services for secure access and identity management.
Use monitoring and automation tools like SCOM, Zabbix, SCCM, and Ansible Tower to monitor performance, resolve alerts, and automate deployments.
Operate and optimize Microsoft Azure environments including VMs, Entra AD Connect, RBAC, DNS, Azure Backup, and Site Recovery; support Landing Zone design.
Remediate vulnerabilities, apply patches, and ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory standards.
Contribute to provisioning, migrations, upgrades, and disaster recovery planning; collaborate with teams to deliver stable solutions.
Maintain accurate operational procedures, system documentation, and reports.
