Job summary

Korn Ferry is looking for an Azure DevOps / Systems Engineer - Kubernetes (AKS)/SRE in Raleigh, NC to own container hosting, manage AKS clusters, and ensure reliable deployments within the Microsoft stack.

You will collaborate to evolve the platform toward Azure Container Apps, configure ARM/Bicep templates, monitor via Azure Monitor, and participate in incident response and release validation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field.
• 3+ years in systems or cloud engineering, Azure preferred.
• Hands-on production experience with Kubernetes (AKS preferred).
• Experience deploying via ARM and/or Bicep.
• Experience with Azure DevOps pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Own and support container hosting using AKS—clusters, nodes, deployment patterns, routing, and service communication.
• Investigate Kubernetes issues such as failed pods, crash loops, unhealthy workloads, and failed deployments.
• Apply SRE practices to improve reliability, availability, performance, and operations.
• Monitor Azure environments and troubleshoot with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.
• Configure and maintain basic alerts for availability, pod issues, and infrastructure events.
• Participate in incident response, root-cause analysis, and problem investigation.
• Support CI/CD using Azure DevOps—Microsoft stack with little to no third-party tools.
• Assist deployments, maintenance, rollbacks, and release validation.
• Support Azure networking activities (VNets, subnets, DNS, firewall rules, Front Door, App Gateway, WAF).
• Build and maintain ARM/Bicep templates for deployment and provisioning.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve environment/cluster/service performance issues.
• Document solutions, patterns, and operational procedures.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Own and support container hosting using Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) - clusters, nodes, deployment patterns, routing, and service communication.
• Investigate common Kubernetes issues such as failed pods, crash loops, unhealthy workloads, failed deployments, and resource pressure.
• Apply SRE practices to improve service reliability, availability, performance, and operational readiness through monitoring, automation, incident response, and continuous improvement.
• Monitor Azure environments and assist with troubleshooting using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, and related tools.
• Configure, test, and maintain basic alerts for service availability, pod failures, deployment issues, and infrastructure events.
• Participate in incident response, problem investigation, and root-cause analysis.
• Support CI/CD processes leveraging Azure DevOps - all Microsoft stack (little to no third-party tool usage)
• Assist with application and infrastructure deployments, maintenance activities, rollbacks, and release validation.
• Support Azure networking activities involving VNets, subnets, routing, DNS, firewall rules, Front Door, Application Gateway, and WAF.
• Support / implement container orchestration patterns without Helm - using Azure-native constructs.
• Partner with the engineering org to evolve the platform from AKS toward Azure Container Apps.
• Configure and support core SaaS platform components (Azure App Services, Azure SQL, virtual networking, routing, VNETs, subnets, etc.).
• Build and maintain ARM/Bicep templates for deployment and environment provisioning (Terraform not used here).
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve environment / cluster / service-level performance issues.
• Participate in design discussions to improve reliability, scalability, and modernization of the platform.
• Document solutions, patterns, and operational procedures.

Skills Required

• ~3+ years of Systems Engineering or Cloud Engineering experience (Azure strongly preferred).
• Hands-on production experience with Kubernetes (AKS ideally).
• Strong Azure platform knowledge - App Services, Container Apps (preferred), Virtual Networking, routing.
• SaaS background and understanding of container-based application hosting.
• Experience deploying via ARM and/or Bicep.
• Experience with Azure DevOps pipelines (CI/CD exposure).
• Willingness to participate in production support, maintenance activities, and incident response as required.
