Position Summary
As an Azure Databricks Data Architect at Ampcus Inc., you will serve as the principal enterprise data solutions authority leading large-scale analytics modernization in Michigan City, IN. Operating on-site across a mission-critical cloud ecosystem, this senior technical leadership role is dedicated to architecting high-performance lakehouse platforms, multi-tiered data warehousing, and distributed data pipelines. You will steer data modernization strategy, define architectural standards, and align enterprise data models with business objectives to deliver robust, scalable, and secure cloud analytics capabilities.
Detailed Job Description
The Azure Databricks Data Architect is responsible for the overarching architectural blueprint, technical governance, and end-to-end delivery of modern data platforms across Microsoft Azure. In this position, you will direct the technical design and optimization of data pipelines utilizing Azure Databricks, Unity Catalog, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Synapse Analytics. Your daily responsibilities encompass authoring distributed data models, architecting lakehouse storage layers with Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS Gen2), and crafting high-throughput Spark-SQL and PySpark transformation frameworks to support complex analytical workloads.
Operating within an enterprise-scale environment, you will bridge technical design with business strategy, guiding data architecture decisions across multi-faceted programs and collaborating closely with engineering teams and executive stakeholders. You will implement enterprise-grade data governance, fine-grained access policies, encryption mechanisms, and regulatory compliance standards using Unity Catalog and Microsoft Fabric. The scope demands an experienced data leader with a proven background in dimensional modeling, OLAP cubes, and automated pipeline orchestration using Logic Apps to ensure high reliability, optimal query latency, and unified data democratization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the enterprise data architecture strategy, design, and deployment of modern analytics solutions leveraging Azure Databricks and Microsoft Fabric.
- Architect and govern scalable lakehouse and warehouse solutions utilizing Azure Databricks, Unity Catalog, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure SQL.
- Design, build, and optimize automated enterprise ELT/ETL ingestion pipelines utilizing Azure Data Factory, Logic Apps, and event-driven architectures.
- Author, refactor, and performance-tune high-volume data transformation routines utilizing advanced SQL, Spark-SQL, and PySpark.
- Establish dimensional data modeling frameworks, star/snowflake schemas, and enterprise OLAP architectures supporting business intelligence.
- Define and enforce unified data governance, access controls, data lineage, and metadata management strategies using Databricks Unity Catalog.
- Ensure stringent cloud data security, privacy compliance, network segmentation, and encryption across Azure Data Lake Storage environments.
- Provide senior technical guidance, architectural design reviews, and engineering best practices to distributed development and data engineering teams.
- Partner with executive stakeholders and program managers to evaluate analytics modernization roadmaps and influence technology investments.
- Produce comprehensive High-Level Design (HLD) documents, Low-Level Design (LLD) specifications, data dictionaries, and architectural diagrams.
