Overview

Location: New York, NY (Hybrid – 2 to 3 days onsite per week) | Clearance Requirements: None | Position Status: Contract – Long Term

Position Description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Azure Data Engineer for a long-term hybrid contract role based in New York, NY.

In this role, you will design, develop, and optimize end-to-end data solutions using Microsoft Azure cloud services, enabling secure, scalable, and high-performance data environments to support analytics, business intelligence, and reporting initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Power BI, and SQL, as well as a strong foundation in Python and data governance practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain modern data architectures on the Azure cloud platform.
  • Develop and manage ETL pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Databricks.
  • Ensure data quality, accuracy, and security across all data processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support analytics, reporting, and BI initiatives.
  • Implement and enforce data governance, including data lineage, cataloging, and compliance.
  • Create and optimize stored procedures, SQL queries, and scripts to streamline data workflows.
  • Support and manage Power BI Report Server for data visualization and insights.
  • Apply security best practices in Azure, including IAM, encryption, and secure data transfer.
Required Skills / Education
  • 3+ years of experience as an Azure Data Engineer or in a similar data-focused cloud role.
  • Proven experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Data Lake, and Power BI.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL (including stored procedure creation) and Python.
  • Working knowledge of Azure SQL Database, Synapse Analytics, COSMOS DB, or related services.
  • Hands-on understanding of Azure security protocols—identity management, encryption, and network security.
  • Experience in data governance frameworks, including data privacy and compliance.
  • Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Security Engineer Associate or Azure Solutions Architect Expert) are highly desirable.
  • .NET / C# experience is a plus.
