Job summary

GardaWorld Security in St. Louis, MO is seeking a mid to senior Software Engineer to design, build, and operate backend services, data pipelines, and automation on Microsoft Azure.

You will own work end to end, from requirements and design through coding, testing, deployment, and production support. This hybrid role emphasizes data engineering and cloud infrastructure, with serverless Azure Functions (Python/TypeScript), Snowflake data warehousing, and SQL Server-based source systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience, with cloud and data engineering focus.
• Track record of owning services in production and operating what you build.
• Strong problem solving, attention to detail, and quick learner.
• Excellent communication skills for working with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate serverless backend services and automations as Azure Functions in Python and TypeScript, and own them in production.
• Build and maintain data pipelines that integrate source systems with Snowflake; write and optimize SQL for ETL/ELT and reporting.
• Design event-driven workflows using Azure messaging (Event Grid, Service Bus, Storage Queues) and decoupled processing patterns.
• Integrate with REST APIs, including OAuth 2.0, and with Microsoft Graph and vendor platforms.
• Manage cloud infrastructure as code using Terraform, including importing resources; configure identity, access, networking (RBAC/IAM, VNet, private endpoints).
• Instrument and monitor services with Datadog, improving reliability and observability.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing services and production incidents.
• Participate in code reviews and Git-based workflows; support cross-functional initiatives.
