Position Summary

The Cloud Architect will be responsible for the creation of a technology framework and providing technical leadership in support of AJG initiatives in cloud computing and automation, with a focus on the design of systems and services that run on cloud platforms. Lead technical teams across the organization to achieve cloud transformation goals. Coach members of the team, drive solutions forward and be able to take a pragmatic approach to ensure success in challenging environments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Leading and architecting Azure cloud solutions in enterprise environments.
2. Taking responsibility for the end-to-end technical solution.
3. Technical leader and providing guidance to all cloud projects.
4. Analyzing divisional business requirements and translating these to the right technical solution.
5. Leading divisional workshops and working as part of agile teams.
6. Documenting technical strategy, solutions, and reviewing component designs.
7. Actively sharing knowledge within the team and cloud community.
8. Contributing to DevOps development activities and complex development tasks.
9. Defining optimal design patterns and solutions for high availability and disaster recovery for cloud applications.
10. Working on designing/implementing/automation procedures for deployment, configuration, patching, and upgrading of systems and applications.
11. Conducting analysis of production systems and performance testing results to identify areas of improvement within the application or infrastructure.
12. Conducting feasibility studies for existing and emerging cloud technologies.
13. Providing mentoring and guidance for mid and junior level staff, offering feedback targeted at individual development.
14. Working closely with vendors, internal groups, and outside agencies to provide technical leadership and solutions.
15. Independently analyzing, solving, and correcting issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
16. Refining and automating regular processes, tracking issues, and documenting changes.
17. Performing scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.
18. Sharing domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members.

Skills and Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, systems analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience.
2. 8+ years of experience spanning at least two IT disciplines, including technical cloud architecture, network management, application development, middleware, database management or operations.
3. Experience with Azure Shell scripting/PowerShell scripting.
4. Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments.
5. Knowledge of all components of technical architecture.
6. Knowledge of business process re-engineering principles and processes.
7. Strong understanding of network architecture and application development methodologies.
8. Strong understanding of SOA, object-oriented analysis and design, and/or client/server.
9. Strong client-facing consultative skills, able to act as a customer advocate.
