Job summary

Zohorecruit is seeking a senior Azure architect for a federal program in Washington, DC. The role focuses on moving from AVS to native Azure, designing target state, and shaping an 18–24 month cloud roadmap.

You will evaluate Azure-native services, build cost models, and produce decision-ready recommendations for government stakeholders. You will partner with networks, systems, and security teams to ensure operable designs and provide escalation support for complex Azure issues.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of infrastructure engineering with Azure as primary platform.
• Deep knowledge of Azure services: compute, virtual networking, storage, Entra ID, Azure Policy, Monitor, Cost Management.
• Experience migrating VMware workloads to Azure (AVS) and planning migrations.
• Security/compliance focus in federal/regulatory environments, with NIST 800-53 familiarity.
• Strong communication and documentation skills for government stakeholders.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

• Own the post-AVS target-state design and identify decision points.
• Shape the 18–24 month cloud roadmap to align with agency planning.
• Evaluate and prototype Azure-native capabilities to replace legacy platforms.
• Build and defend the AVS-versus-native Azure cost model for budget submissions.
• Document operability impacts: monitoring, patching, DR, runbooks; advise on required skills.
• Serve as the Azure escalation point and share knowledge with engineers.
• Produce designs, options analyses, and memos suitable for government review.
