Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an AWS WorkSpaces Migration Architect to lead discovery, design, and execution of large-scale virtual desktop migrations. You will architect persistent and non-persistent desktop solutions, define DR capabilities, and optimize user experience while coordinating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

The role emphasizes IaC, automation, and secure, compliant delivery across hybrid environments and client-facing engagements.

Qualifications

• Lead discovery, assessment, sizing, dependency mapping, and migration planning activities.
• Design migration waves, pilot deployments, cutover strategies, rollback procedures, and transition plans.
• Define scaling, capacity planning, high availability, and disaster recovery architecture.
• Establish profile management and user experience optimization strategies.
• Develop and maintain Terraform modules for AWS WorkSpaces, VPC, and IAM.

Responsibilities

• Architect and lead AWS WorkSpaces migration efforts for client environments.
• Collaborate with client teams to design scalable, secure, and reliable desktops.
• Implement IaC and CI/CD pipelines to automate image build, deployment, and governance.

Job Title -AWS Workspaces Migration Architect

Location Remote / Hybrid (Client-facing role)

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Migration Leadership

• Lead discovery, assessment, sizing, dependency mapping, and migration planning activities.

• Design migration waves, pilot deployments, cutover strategies, rollback procedures, and transition plans.

AWS WorkSpaces Design

• Deploy:

• AWS WorkSpaces Personal (Persistent)

• AWS WorkSpaces Pools (Non-Persistent)

• Design desktop pools based on workload personas and business requirements.

• Define scaling, capacity planning, high availability, and disaster recovery architecture.

• Establish profile management and user experience optimization strategies.

Persistent / Non-Persistent Desktop Architecture

• Design user profile persistence strategies using:

• FSLogix

• User Profile Disks

• Profile Containers

• Amazon FSx

• App Layering technologies

• Recommend appropriate desktop delivery model:

• Persistent Desktops

• Non-Persistent Desktops

• Hybrid Workspaces

• Optimize application delivery, user personalization, and data management.

Image Engineering & Lifecycle Management

• Establish enterprise Golden Image strategy.

Terraform & Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

• Develop and maintain Terraform modules for:

• AWS WorkSpaces

• VPC

• IAM

CI/CD & Automation

• Build automated CI/CD pipelines using:

• Azure DevOps

• GitHub Actions

• Jenkins

• AWS CodePipeline

• Configure automated image build and deployment pipelines.

• Enable infrastructure deployment through GitOps methodologies.

• Automate compliance validation, testing, and release approvals.

• Integrate Infrastructure as Code with enterprise release management processes.

The Salary for this position will be 140,000 to 160,000 yearly depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
