Job summary

System One is seeking an experienced AWS Solutions Architect/ Cloud Engineer for a contract role in Washington, DC. You will design and implement GovCloud AWS solutions, build Landing Zone with AWS Organizations, and manage security through KMS, IAM, and monitoring stacks.

The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of cloud architecture experience, hands-on GovCloud work, Terraform mastery, and strong DevSecOps skills with GitLab CI/CD, Python, Bash, and policy-as-code (OPA/Sentinel).

Qualifications

• 10+ years of cloud architecture experience focusing on AWS
• Hands-on experience with AWS GovCloud and Landing Zone design
• Proficiency in Terraform module design and remote state management
• Strong knowledge of VPC, TGW, IAM, and AWS security services
• Experience with GitLab CI/CD and policy-as-code tools (OPA/Sentinel)
• Familiarity with Python, Bash scripting, and DISA Cloud Computing SRG
• Certifications: AWS SAA minimum (SAP preferred), AWS Security Specialty strongly preferred, HashiCorp Terraform Associate, DoD 8570/8140 IAT II

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with DISA Cloud Computing SRG standards and manage security policies and infrastructure as code
• Collaborate with team to optimize AWS environments and ensure security best practices are enforced

Responsibilities

• Design and implement AWS solutions focusing on GovCloud environment, including Landing Zone build with AWS Organizations, SCPs, account vending, KMS, and monitoring stack
• Develop and maintain DevSecOps pipelines using GitLab CI/CD, OPA/Sentinel, Python, and Bash scripting

Requirements

• Minimum 10 years of related experience in cloud architecture and AWS solutions
• Experience specifically in AWS GovCloud, with knowledge of Landing Zone and AWS Organizations
• Proficiency in Terraform, including module design and remote state management
• Strong understanding of AWS networking (VPC, TGW), security services, and IAM
• Hands‑on experience with GitLab CI/CD pipelines and policy‑as‑code tools like OPA/Sentinel
• Familiarity with Python, Bash scripting, and DISA Cloud Computing SRG
• Certifications: AWS SAA minimum (SAP preferred), AWS Security Specialty strongly preferred, HashiCorp Terraform Associate, DoD 8570/8140 IAT II
