Job summary

Intone Inc. is seeking an experienced AWS PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) for a remote, 12-month contract to support cloud-based PostgreSQL environments.

You will manage Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL and Aurora PostgreSQL, optimize performance, enforce security, and drive modernization with IaC and migrations. The ideal candidate has hands-on AWS database experience, SQL tuning skills, Terraform expertise, and a track record of complex migrations from SQL Server/IBM DB2 to PostgreSQL,

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience administering PostgreSQL databases within AWS, particularly Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL and Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL.
• Proven experience with database performance monitoring, SQL query optimization, indexing, troubleshooting, and production support.
• Experience developing and maintaining Terraform configurations for cloud infrastructure automation.
• Strong understanding of database security, access management, backup/recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery.
• Experience supporting database migrations, including migrations from Microsoft SQL Server or other relational database platforms to PostgreSQL.
• Proficiency in SQL development, database administration, and automation of operational tasks.
• Experience implementing database standards, managing database changes, and resolving complex technical issues.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaborate across technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute database migrations, including migrations between AWS database platforms and from on-premises Microsoft SQL Server and IBM DB2 for i (iSeries) to AWS PostgreSQL.
• Support high-availability, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery initiatives to ensure business continuity.
• Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, and data teams to support database integrations, application requirements, and cloud modernization efforts.
• Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for PostgreSQL and AWS database technologies, providing technical guidance and mentoring team members.

This individual will join the Data Team and be responsible for the administration, performance, security, automation, and reliability of Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL and Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL databases. The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on experience with AWS database technologies, PostgreSQL administration, SQL performance tuning, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and complex database migrations.
