Job summary

Atlas Tech is seeking a skilled AWS DevOps Engineer to design, deploy, and optimize mission-critical AWS infrastructure for DoD customers. You will implement CI/CD pipelines, automate provisioning with Terraform, CloudFormation, and Ansible, and ensure STIG-hardening and ongoing security compliance across environments.

Travel up to 10% and collaboration with security and operations teams will be essential as you monitor performance, control costs, and support disaster recovery and incident

Qualifications

• DoD Secret clearance required or ability to obtain
• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT or equivalent experience
• Experience as AWS DevOps Engineer with Oracle-backed systems
• Proficient in Python and Bash scripting
• Practical knowledge of DoD STIGs and AWS hardening

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using AWS services
• Automate infrastructure provisioning with Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible
• Maintain STIG-hardened environments and perform security posture reviews
• Patch management, baselines, and monitoring to meet DoD cyber requirements
• Collaborate with security and operations to enforce governance, encryption, logging
• Optimize performance and cost through monitoring and tuning AWS resources
• Develop automation scripts in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for build, deploy, monitoring, security hardening
• Support disaster recovery planning and test recovery scenarios

Atlas Tech, a veteran-owned IT company serving multiple DoD customers in support of America's warfighters, is seeking a skilled and motivated AWS DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. You will contribute to the design, deployment, and optimization of mission-critical AWS infrastructure. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in DevOps practices, cloud automation, and DoD security compliance to ensure our enterprise-wide human resources system remains secure, scalable, and resilient.

You Will:

• Design, implement, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines using AWS native services to support rapid and secure software delivery.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, and Ansible.
• Ensure DoD security compliance by implementing and maintaining STIG-hardened environments, including regular security posture reviews, vulnerability assessments, and remediation actions.
• Maintain system integrity through patch management, configuration baselines, and ongoing monitoring to meet DoD cybersecurity requirements.
• Collaborate with security and operations teams to enforce governance policies, access control, encryption, and logging.
• Optimize system performance and costs through proactive monitoring, alerting, and tuning of AWS resources.
• Develop custom automation scripts using Python, Bash, or PowerShell to support build, deploy, monitoring, and security hardening workflows.
• Support disaster recovery planning, implement backup strategies, and test recovery scenarios for continuity of operations.

You Have:

• A minimum of a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret level Security Clearance
• Security+ CE Certification
• (DoD 8140 qualification for the assigned work role, or the ability to obtain it within 6 months of hire)
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
• Proven experience as an AWS DevOps Engineer, with exposure to Oracle-backed systems
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation)
• Hands‑on experience applying DoD STIGs and hardening AWS infrastructure accordingly
• Strong knowledge of AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, VPC, IAM, etc.)
• Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and cloud security frameworks

Preferred:

• Experience with multiple cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
• Familiarity with DISA STIG Viewer, SCAP tools, or ACAS for security assessments
• Experience with centralized logging, SIEM tools, and incident response workflows
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Attention to detail with a focus on delivering secure, high‑quality solutions
