Job summary

GDIT is seeking a Cloud Engineer to join our team supporting a key intelligence customer. The role involves automating deployments, optimizing systems, and integrating with enterprise authentication services in an AWS environment.

You'll work within an agile team to deliver full-stack applications, implement secure cloud solutions, and participate in scrums and design reviews. A TS/SCI clearance is required, with on-site work in St. Louis, MO or Springfield, VA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical discipline.
• 8+ years IT experience.
• DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements (Security+ CE, CND, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, CySA+, or CCNA).
• Strong knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Experience automating tasks with scripting languages (Bash, PowerShell, or Perl).
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and DevOps CI/CD tools (GitLab, Jenkins, Nexus).
• Angular frontend framework; UI/UX design.
• Microservices architecture; REST APIs integration with COTS/FOSS software.
• CI/CD pipelines and containerization with Docker; Kubernetes orchestration.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with development teams to automate deployments and improve performance.
• Maintain and enhance infrastructure (autoscaling, authentication, monitoring, cost optimization).
• Operate in AWS with EC2, S3, Load Balancer, RDS.
• Develop full-stack features and resolve production issues.
• Engage in requirements gathering with customers and stakeholders.
• Implement design and deployment of features with minimal supervision.

As a Cloud Engineer you will help ensure today is safe and tomorrow is smarter. Our work depends on a TS/SCI level Cloud Engineer joining our team to support our intelligence customer in Springfield, VA or St. Louis, MO.

HOW A CLOUD ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

The Cloud Engineer will be responsible for working with highly functional development team automating service deployments; optimizing system performance; integrating with enterprise authentication services; establishing/improving system monitoring; maintaining established security protocols; providing customers technical support. The Cloud Engineer will be integrated with an agile environment participating with scrums and other meetings.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work with A&A Team to maintain security requirements for operation of systems
• Maintain and improve existing infrastructure (build out autoscaling, support new services, optimize cost efficiencies/authentication/search, etc)
• Maintain System in AWS environment using EC2, S3, Load Balancer, and RDS
• Automate and optimize service deployments
• Delivering a full-stack web application to production; identifying and resolving operational issues in same
• Actively participating in technical requirements-gathering process (i.e. meetings with customers)
• Executing design and implementation of application features, independently / unassisted, with minimal oversight
• Refactoring legacy application code for improved reliability and maintainability
• Writing and reading unit tests; understanding code-quality analysis concepts
• Developing applications backed by a relational database; understanding RDB design concepts

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Programming, Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience
• 8+ years IT experience
• Meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements including one of the following: Security+ CE, CND, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, CySA+, or CCNA
• Strong knowledge of Amazon Web Services
• Experience in automating tasks using scripted languages such as Bash, PowerShell, or Perl
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodology
• Familiarity with DevOps development processes and Continuous Integration tools: GitLab, Jenkins, Nexus
• Angular frontend framework; UI/UX design
• Microservice-based backend architecture; integrating with COTS/FOSS software REST APIs
• Supporting a full-stack application in a PaaS environment
• CI/CD pipeline implementation, ideally with GitLab
• Creating and deploying containerized applications, ideally with Docker
• Designing/implementing container orchestration with Kubernetes

Desired Skills

• Strong understanding of cloud APIs and interaction with the AWS/CLI
• Experience working with one or more programming languages (e.g. Python, Ruby, or Java)
• Experience with Go programming language
• Familiarity with HTML, CSS, Markdown, and portal development
• Database experience with a Postgres backend
