Job summary

CGS Federal is seeking a Cloud Engineer (AWS) to support a large federal agency by designing scalable cloud solutions and documenting engineering, security, and operational processes.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years in IT, strong AWS hands-on experience, and a proven track record delivering large-scale cloud deployments, including lift-and-shift migrations and cloud-native designs. This full-time role offers growth and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a technical discipline.
• 4-7 years of professional IT experience supporting federal government agencies.
• 4+ years designing, implementing and/or supporting highly distributed applications with strong architectural skills.
• Hands-on AWS experience required with architectural design experience.
• Experience delivering large-scale solutions that reached production state.
• Strong grasp of SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS fundamentals with design/implementation experience.
• Familiar with lift-and-shift migrations and cloud migration methodologies.
• AWS Certification or Cloud Architect Certification (or desire to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Design solutions that ensure maximum flexibility and scalability while meeting security controls.
• Support the development of documentation for engineering, security, and operations processes.
• Perform business and technical analysis to aid customer decisions.
• Facilitate transition of the solution to operations and ensure ongoing operation within boundaries.
• Demonstrate strong grasp of cloud computing fundamentals with AWS focus.
