Job summary

Delaware Nation Industries (DNI) seeks a Data Engineer to design, implement, secure, monitor, and optimize cloud-native data platforms supporting data science and AI/ML workloads at JWAC IT Services in Dahlgren, VA. The role integrates FinOps, Zero Trust security, and AI/ML infrastructure responsibilities.

This onsite position supports a TS/SCI/SAP environment, requiring collaboration with government stakeholders and cloud engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in CS/CE/DS or related technical discipline.
• At least three years of full-time experience in computer science, data engineering, or data science.
• Recent experience designing or implementing data engineering solutions or cloud-native systems on AWS.
• At least one year of experience with cloud-native data warehouse or analytics platforms on AWS (e.g., Redshift, Athena, Glue Data Catalog, Lake Formation).
• Experience with Python, Jupyter, SageMaker Studio, DataBrew, or QuickSight for data science applications.
• Experience implementing cloud-native data security controls (IAM, encryption, network segmentation).
• Ability to meet DoD 8140.03 requirements including Data Architect (Intermediate).
• Ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI/SAP access.
• Willingness to work onsite in Dahlgren, VA during core hours and support maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, troubleshoot, and tune end-to-end cloud-native data engineering solutions on AWS.
• Develop and administer data ingestion, ETL, integration, transformation, validation, publication, and lifecycle workflows.
• Integrate structured and unstructured data from diverse sources.
• Design data architectures and stores to support analytics, feature engineering, model training, and real-time inference.
• Create REST APIs and web services to expose data to JWAC applications and analytical systems.
• Support AI/ML infrastructure including model hosting and RAG workflows.
• Develop automation, monitoring, and self-healing capabilities using AWS tools.
• Implement DoD Zero Trust and NIST SP 800-53 Rev. 5 security controls across data environments.
• Apply FinOps practices for cost tracking and optimization.
• Gather requirements and document architecture, processes, costs, risks, and implementation decisions.
