Job summary

LPL Financial is seeking an AVP Tech Network Engineer, Security in Austin to design, build, and operate scalable, secure networking solutions for advisors and clients. You’ll work hands-on with firewall technology and cloud deployments, driving hardening, automation, and proactive improvements.

The role requires 5+ years in network and security engineering, familiarity with Radware, Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco, and ISE/NAC. Travel up to 10% and US work authorization are required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Network and Security Engineering experience with emphasis on Radware, Fortinet, Cisco and Palo Alto.
• 2+ years of security technologies/products (DDoS, proxy, VPN, firewall orchestration, NAC).
• 2+ years of network security hardening and logging (SolarWinds, LiveNX, ELK).
• Hands-on experience with Radware, Palo Alto, Fortinet and Cisco security products.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer security solutions focusing on Palo Alto, Cisco, Fortinet firewalls.
• Automate using scripting languages (Python, PERL) and APIs for data exchange.
• Engineer and operate VPN and Cisco ISE/NAC remote access.

Job Overview: LPL is seeking an AVP Tech Network Engineer, Security who will be responsible for the design, engineering, and operations of network security products, including firewalls, DDOS appliances, network access control (ISE) appliances and orchestration tools. This is a very technical and highly demanding hands‑on position, and the ideal candidate should be well versed in the above areas and be willing to extend their knowledge. The position directly relates to providing scalable, resilient, and secure networking solutions for LPL, our Advisors, and their clients.

• Design and engineer solutions focused on Palo Alto and Cisco FTD, Fortinet firewalls
• Automation development using scripting languages such as Python or PERL and leveraging APIs for data exchange.
• Engineering and operations of VPN and Cisco ISE/NAC remote access environment
• Implementing firewall solutions in the AWS cloud environment using an auto‑scaling design
• Troubleshooting complex network security issues, identifying the root cause of issues and developing continuous improvement of the platform
• Security hardening of platform devices reduces vulnerability footprint
• Managing firewall service requests
• Manage and optimize logging of firewall traffic and rule‑based activity
• Maintain security baseline standards, design documentation, and diagrams
• Open to travel up to 10% depending on the needs of the business

• 5+ years of Network and Security Engineering experience, with an emphasis on security products from Radware, Fortinet, Cisco and Palo Alto.
• 2+ years of security technologies/products, such as DDoS, proxy, VPN, firewall orchestration and/or network access control
• 2+ years of network security hardening and controls as well experience using network monitoring and logging tools (i.e. SolarWinds, LiveNX, ELK)
• 2+ years of network defense technology both on premise and cloud

• Hands on engineering level experience with Radware, Palo Alto, Fortinet and Cisco security products, including their management platforms
• Critical thinker who can work in high-pressure situations due to the unpredictable nature of cyber threats.
• Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, both oral and written, with the ability to articulate and educate others about complex technologies with business acumen.
• Experience with Radware Defense Pro hardware
• Experience with Cisco ISE
• Understanding of network security best practices
• Knowledge of native firewalls in AWS and Azure

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
• CCNA/CCNP/CISSP a plus
• Experience with scripting and automation tools
• Experience with Agile

Pay Range: $103,618.00 - $172,628.00
