Job summary

Moody's Corporation is seeking an AVP-Project Accounting to guide software capitalization and financial governance across the product portfolio. You will apply US GAAP capitalization rules, collaborate with Product and R&D on roadmaps, and convert initiatives into governance-ready investment structures.

You will develop reporting, support new capitalization standards, and help differentiate durable assets from exploratory work, while building a strong project accounting team and shaping Moody's

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• CPA designation or advanced degree preferred.
• Experience advising on software investment and profitability outcomes in tech-enabled firms is valued.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical accounting judgment on software capitalization under US GAAP across product lines and geographies.
• Partner with Product and R&D during roadmap planning and portfolio reviews to supply financial input.
• Translate roadmaps into investment structures for governance and reporting.
• Develop playbooks and guidelines; flag scope creep or impairment signals.
• Enhance reporting for capitalized projects and R&D to support leadership decisions.
• Support new software capitalization accounting standards and stakeholder implications.
• Help distinguish durable assets from exploratory work and manage handoffs to accounting teams.
• Build and mentor a high-performing project accounting team.
