Job summary

The Harbor Bank of Maryland is seeking an experienced operations leader to ensure efficient branch office operations within the region. You will guide branch employees on policy adherence, security, and risk controls, while coordinating with the GVP/Retail Strategy & Performance Office.

You will monitor operational losses, supervise branch audits, and maintain regulatory compliance across the branch network, including vendor relationships and monthly reporting.

Qualifications

• Requires a minimum of five years of experience in a retail banking environment with supervisory responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Monitor branch compliance with government regulations and bank policies.
• Review and update branch policies and procedures.
• Assist leadership with account openings/closures and delinquent accounts review.
• Ensure quarterly branch audits are completed and findings addressed.
• Oversee daily cash settlement and related reports for accuracy.
• Maintain branch records, including deposits and CIP documentation in Horizon.
• Coordinate training for branch personnel on policies and technology updates.
• Participate in IT, compliance, and project meetings; engage with professional associations as needed.
• Coach and support branch staff, and collaborate with GVP on performance initiatives.
• Assist with vendor management and flexibly support branch operations.
• Lead weekly branch scheduling and supervisor guidance for PTO and attendance.

Job description

In partnership with the GVP/Retail Strategy & Performance Officer, will be responsible for the efficient, effective operations of the branch offices within the region. Provide the appropriate guidance to ensure that branch employees understand and operate within the bank’s established policies and procedures.

Identify, monitor, and control potential operational losses arising from the branch. Oversee and adheres requirements pertaining to branch security, fraud prevention and BSA.

Key Responsibilities

• Keep abreast of all government regulations and new developments as it pertains to the branch network.
• Review, update and develop branch policies and procedures.
• Assist Branch Management with decisions as it pertains to reviewing documents pertaining to opening accounts, closing accounts and the collection of outstanding account deficits.
• Ensure that quarterly branch audits are performed, and findings addressed immediately.
• Review the branch’s daily cash settlement for compliance and update when needed.
• Review of daily reports outlined in the Bank’s Report Schedule.
• Update and maintain the Bank’s Deposit (BCR’S) Bank Control Records.
• Update Deposit interest rates monthly.
• Complete and submit monthly Branch Administration Board Reports.
• Ensure that the branch personnel are trained and stay abreast of operational and technological updates by utilizing current resources and by identifying other options if needed.
• Attend monthly IT and Compliance committee meetings and various project meetings.
• Participate in professional associations, conferences, and seminars.
• Partner with the GVP to coach, train, and assist branch personnel as needed.
• Manage the Bank’s efforts to collect delinquent retail accounts as it relates to depository relationships.
• Assist if needed with bank vendor’s e.g., Deluxe, Brinks, FIS, Advent, TruStage, and ChexSystems.
• Review Deposit Account Maintenance File of customer/account changes made by branch personnel.
• Review New Account Exceptions and CIP packets uploading within Horizon.
• Manage weekly branch schedule, approve PTO/Sick time off request, observe and coach branch leadership, provide recap of branch observations.
• Comply with all federal and state regulations and rules impacting this position, meet all risk and compliance obligations, including the completion of required training.

A high level of interpersonal skills to communicate policies, procedures, and objectives effectively throughout the bank and to represent the bank positively in significant external events.

Qualifications

Required

• A High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required; College degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
• Requires a minimum of five years’ experience in a retail banking environment; experience must
• have included at least five years of supervision in banking, lending,
• Must have excellent supervisory and business development skills, as well as strong knowledge of various regulations governing the financial services industry. Requires excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills, as well as attention to detail. Must be highly motivated and can maintain confidentiality.

Preferred

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Banking, or a related field.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in retail banking, including multi-branch operations management and staff supervision.
• Prior experience in retail operations oversight, including branch audits, regulatory compliance, and vendor management.

Professional certifications

• Strong understanding of Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations, and fraud prevention practices in a financial institution.
• Experience in process improvement initiatives and implementing operational efficiency strategies across multiple branch locations.
• PMP or equivalent experience with project execution.
