Job summary

Allied World is seeking an experienced Claims Leader in Farmington, NM to review, negotiate, and resolve complex cases while guiding a team of professionals. You will analyze coverage, manage reserves, and coordinate with brokers, defense counsel, and underwriters to protect the client and company interests.

The role requires strong negotiation, communication, and leadership skills, with a focus on customer service and collaboration to drive business development and ensure regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Relevant academic qualifications with a minimum of 7 years’ solid working experience including experience in managing a team of the Involved Line(s) of Business
• Bachelors degree
• Preferably a holder or in progress of professional insurance qualification such as ANZIIF or ACII and meet minimum local mandatory qualification requirement where relevant
• Solid experience in handling complex / legal cases independently with sound judgment, strong negotiating and analytical ability in the Involved Line(s) of Business
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills
• Self-motivated individual with ability to work independently and handle a diverse range of claims and responsibilities
• Strong customer service oriented attitude
• The ability to work well, remain calm under pressure and thrive in a team environment

Responsibilities

• Review, evaluate, negotiate and resolve non-standard and complex cases within designated personal authority level
• Promptly analyze coverage, draft accurate and timely coverage positions, and manage litigation by effectively interacting with insureds, brokers, defense counsel, underwriters and other parties as required
• Set up, investigate and authorize claim payments within specified authority
• Identify, investigate suspicious / fraudulent claims and take appropriate actions and keep relevant stakeholders closely informed
• Manages the team for the Involved Line(s) of Business and provide/recommend necessary training mentoring and guidance to the team members
• Exhibit technical leadership, both internally and externally, on claims matter which the Company participates
• Establish timely and appropriate reserves and regularly report claim developments and trends to claims and underwriting management
• Proactively manage vendors
• Managing customer/intermediary interactions in an efficient, courteous and timely manner to deliver high standards of customer satisfaction
• Meet with existing or prospective clients or intermediaries to promote Claims and support business development
• Meet with existing or prospective clients and brokers
• Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory and policy requirements internally and externally
• Preparation of reports or analysis where necessary
• Prepare Executive Claim reports and present on a quarterly basis to senior executives
• Prepare claim and statistical reports as required
