Job summary

Barclays Services LLC seeks AVP, Mobile Backend Developer in Whippany, NJ to lead the design and development of scalable mobile applications and microservices for the mobile backend.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, ensure requirements and security are integrated, and guide implementation using agile practices while supporting secure coding and high-quality delivery.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership within a team responsible for design and development of scalable mobile applications and micro services for the mobile backend.
• Ensure all functional and non-functional requirements (capacity, availability, response times) are considered.
• Architect applications with proven design patterns and ensure security using authentication and authorization.

• Ensure technical integrity and quality throughout the project delivery lifecycle.
• Review test strategies and cases to ensure coverage of edge cases.

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

Accountabilities

• Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
• Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
• Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
• Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
• Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, architects, and product teams to define contracts, improve API usability, and troubleshoot issues across mobile applications and mobile backend services.
• Participate in technical implementation planning using agile methodologies to maintain live operations' integrity.
• Use AI-powered tools to inspect errors and provide resolutions within defined SLAs.
• Work with UI/UX designers to create intuitive and visually appealing interfaces.
• Ensure the technical integrity and quality of applications throughout the project delivery lifecycle.
• Review test strategies and cases to ensure software quality team cover all the edge cases.
• May telecommute pursuant to company policies. [Hybrid role]

Salary / Rate Minimum/yr: $166,000 per year

Salary / Rate Maximum/yr: $175,000 per year

The minimum and maximum salary/rate information above includes only base salary or base hourly rate. It does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.
