Job summary

WSP is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Mechanical Engineer in South Jordan, UT. This leadership role will drive mechanical engineering services across diverse building projects, with a preference for healthcare project experience.

The candidate will serve as a technical leader and client-facing professional, responsible for project delivery, staff development, business development, and growth initiatives. Opportunity to expand WSP's Buildings practice in Utah and the Mountain Pacific region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience within the buildings industry.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary building design projects.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and energy-efficient building systems.
• Experience managing client relationships and coordinating project delivery teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design for complex building systems from planning to construction administration.
• Serve as trusted advisor to clients and project stakeholders.
• Develop relationships with clients, architects, contractors, and partners.
• Support business development activities including proposals and presentations.
• Oversee project budgets, schedules, staffing, and quality management.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to staff.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams including electrical, plumbing, structural, fire protection, and specialty engineering disciplines.
• Review and approve engineering calculations and construction documents.
• Deliver innovative and sustainable building solutions.
