Job summary

California State University San Marcos seeks anAssociate Vice President and Dean of Students (Administrator III) to lead the Dean of Students Area and its diverse departments. This full-time, exempt role reports to the VP of Student Affairs and requires active on-campus work in San Marcos.

Responsibilities include crisis response, resource mobilization, staff supervision, and data-driven program assessment, with participation in senior leadership teams to shape university policy.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for the Dean of Students Area.
  • Oversee departments including Basic Needs, Civility, Conduct and Ethical Development, Cougar Care Network, Housing & Residential Education, New Student and Family Programs, ACE Scholar Services, CAMP, CCAMPIS, EOP, Project Rebound, and TRIO SSS.
  • Advise the Associated Students, Inc. Student Advocacy Committee and guide campus policy, planning and assessment to support student well-being.
  • Manage budgets, personnel, and other resources efficiently while ensuring compliance with laws, policies, and regulations.
