Leidos Defense is seeking a skilled Test Engineer to support the CHGB program. You will design automated test systems for avionics, develop test software in Python/C/LabVIEW, and work in a CI/CD environment with hardware-in-the-loop capabilities.

The role requires collaboration across electrical, software, and mechanical teams, and involves documenting procedures, validating complex electronics, and participating in customer reviews. U.S. citizenship and DoD clearance are expected.

Competenze

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 4+ years of prior relevant experience in test engineering for electronic systems, or Master's degree with 2+ years of experience.
• Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, C/C++, or LabVIEW and familiarity with CI/CD practices.
• Understanding of electronics design, including reading schematics; experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing and embedded systems.

We're seeking a skilled Test Engineer to join our Hypersonics team supporting the Common Hypersonic Glide Body (CHGB) program. The ideal candidate will combine software development capabilities with electrical engineering knowledge to help design, implement, and maintain automated test systems for flight-critical avionics. This role requires a blend of hardware and software expertise, familiarity with CI/CD practices, and the ability to validate complex electronic systems.

Primary Responsibilities

• Design and implement automated test procedures for avionics hardware components and systems
• Develop test software using modern languages (Python, C/C++, LabVIEW) within a CI/CD framework
• Support hardware-in-the-loop test systems that simulate real-world conditions for avionics components
• Collaborate with electrical, software, and mechanical engineers to optimize product performance
• Document test requirements, procedures, and results using digital engineering tools
• Apply "test-like-you-fly" methodologies to ensure products meet mission requirements
• Troubleshoot hardware/software issues and provide technical recommendations
• Participate in review boards and technical interchange meetings with customers and suppliers

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field
• 4+ years of prior relevant experience in test engineering for electronic systems or Master's degree in related field with 2+ years of prior relevant experience
• Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, C/C++, or LabVIEW
• Familiarity with test automation and CI/CD practices
• Understanding of electronics design, including reading schematics
• Experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing and embedded systems
• Knowledge of communication protocols (SPI, I2C, RS232, Ethernet)
• Ability to use test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators)
• Experience with version control systems (Git) and Agile development methods
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
• US Citizenship is required and ability to obtain and maintain and DoD Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in related engineering field
• Experience with RF testing and calibration
• Experience in aerospace or defense industry test environments
• Knowledge of environmental testing procedures
• Familiarity with databases for test data collection
• Experience with digital engineering tools (JIRA, Confluence, GitLab)
• Understanding of statistical analysis for test validation
• Experience with test systems for production environments
• Familiarity with military standards
• Prior DoD program experience

Pay Range:

Pay Range $87,100.00 - $157,450.00
