Job summary

Aerotek is seeking an Avionics Technician / Electrician on-site at Whidbey NAS to modify, repair, and maintain military aircraft, including weight reduction modifications and avionics upgrades for F/A-18 and EA-18G platforms, ensuring mission‑ready aircraft. The role emphasizes wiring, harness fabrication, testing, and integration, with collaboration with mechanics and inspectors.

Candidates should have hands-on avionics software experience and be eligible for a SECRET clearance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years’ experience on F/A-18 or EA-18G aircraft in RADAR/ECM/AEA/COMM/NAV.
• Hands-on avionics software experience on F/A-18/EA-18G.
• Experience maintaining ALQ-99 pods or similar jamming systems.
• Strong knowledge of aircraft electrical theory and wiring practices.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Build, install, and remove aircraft wire harnesses.
• Test, terminate, and troubleshoot wiring and avionics systems.
• Interpret blueprints and wiring diagrams for accurate installations.
• Perform avionics upgrades on electronic warfare aircraft for weight reduction.
• Support avionics software loading, testing, and diagnostics.
• Maintain and troubleshoot weapons systems including ALQ-99 pods.
• Document work per standards and publications.
• Collaborate with mechanics and inspectors for compliant maintenance.
• Assist with Powerplant, ECS, and other mechanical tasks.
• Handle wiring routing, termination, and fiber optics where applicable.
• Follow safety procedures in hangar/flightline.
