Job summary

Ascent Aviation Services is seeking an avionics technician to research technical data, inspect, test, and repair avionics systems on aircraft in accordance with FAA regulations and manuals. This 24/7 operation offers varied shifts and opportunities to work across hangars and flightlines, with potential assignments to Marana and Tucson locations.

Overview

Ascent Aviation Services is a leading aviation maintenance, repair, and overhaul provider. Avionics Technicians uphold our core values of Respect, Safety, Quality, and Results while ensuring aircraft reliability. This role involves researching technical data, performing inspections, testing, adjustments, and repairs on avionics systems—in accordance with FAA regulations, maintenance manuals, and company procedures.

As a 24/7 operation, we have openings across all shifts including standard day shifts, second shift, weekend shifts, and 12-hour shifts. Candidates must be flexible and willing to be assigned to any shift based on operational needs.

Responsibilities
  • Research technical data and perform inspections, testing, adjustment, and repair of avionics equipment (radar, radio, navigation, autopilot, compass) installed in aircraft, in accordance with applicable maintenance manuals, FAA regulations, and company procedures.
  • Concise and accurate documentation of completed maintenance actions on repair station or customer-provided approved documents.
  • Inspect avionics components for defects and accuracy of assembly and installation. Test avionics equipment under simulated or actual operating conditions to determine performance and airworthiness, using test equipment (oscilloscopes, digital meters, counters, circuit analyzers).
  • Adjust, repair, or replace defective components based on test analysis, following blueprints, schematics, handbooks, and other technical documents.
  • Calibrate installed or repaired equipment to prescribed specifications.
  • Operate avionics testing equipment (VOR/ILS tester, DME tester, pitot-static tester, volt-ohm meter, etc.).
  • Ensure proper documentation is created for training received and signed by Lead, Supervisor, or Manager.
  • Perform maintenance duties away from base on temporary duty as required.
  • Perform maintenance work including repair of company equipment and shop housekeeping.
  • Ensure all work is performed safely and that working conditions are maintained to protect employees from harm.
  • May be required to work at other locations as business needs dictate.
Required Skills / Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of aircraft avionics technician experience.
  • Ability to organize and plan work, meet deadlines, and maintain strong attention to detail.
  • A or A&P License and/or FCC license preferred.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Post-secondary education or training in aircraft maintenance, preferably avionics, required.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English, including following verbal and written instructions.
Physical Requirements
  • Requires sitting, standing, or walking for extended periods.
  • Frequent walking, climbing, lifting, bending, reaching shoulder level, carrying, pushing or pulling up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Equipment Operated
  • Protective equipment required: Goggles, safety glasses, face shields, ear protection, apron, gloves, safety harness, breathing equipment.
Working Conditions
  • Work locations include aircraft maintenance hangars, the flightline, and the avionics shop.
  • Potential hazards include exposure to high noise levels, extreme temperatures, electrical charges and radar waves, materials identified on Safety Data Sheets, and working around moving machinery.
Other Duties
  • May be required to work at Marana, AZ and Tucson, AZ locations as business needs dictate.
  • Additional duties may be assigned at the discretion of department management.
