Job summary

LTA Research and Exploration is seeking an Avionics Technician specializing in systems integration for R&D flight vehicles. You will organize, plan, and execute troubleshooting, installation, and inspections of subsystems, with flight operational support as needed.

The role requires experience in avionics/electrical systems, wire harness fabrication, and functional testing, with emphasis on defect‑free installations and safety compliance.

Qualifications

  • Four years’ avionics/electrical career field experience or two years of accredited schooling in aviation electronics plus two years aviation experience.
  • Ability to remove/install avionics components and fabricate wire harnesses.
  • Ability to perform installation and functional testing per engineering specs and manuals.
  • Experience repairing or replacing defective components and wiring for conformity.

Responsibilities

  • Perform removal/installation of avionics/electrical components and wire harness fabrication.
  • Conduct functional testing and troubleshooting of avionics/electrical systems.
  • Document all aircraft work for inspection readiness.
  • Operate and test with required equipment; adhere to safety programs and tool control.
  • Lead or co‑ordinate installation teams and ensure quality repairs.

Job description

Please note: this is a 6-month contract position.

LTA Research and Exploration, an aerospace start-up, is seeking an Avionics Technician specializing in systems integration on research and development flight vehicles. In order to help advance our goal of bringing revolutionary airships to life, the Avionics Technician will work directly with the appropriate company personnel to organize, plan, and execute the troubleshooting, installation, and inspections of various subsystems. This position will also provide flight operational support as required.

Responsibilities & Qualifications
  • Four years’ experience in an avionics/electrical career field or two years of accredited schooling in aviation electronics plus two years of aviation experience.
  • Performs tasks to include the removal/installation of avionics electrical components, fabrication of wire harnesses, installations, terminations, ring‑out, and functional tests of avionics/electrical systems.
  • Without supervision, performs the installation and functional testing of electrical/avionics components and systems per engineering specifications, drawings and maintenance manuals ensuring a defect free system.
  • Troubleshoots processes/concepts to provide timely, quality repairs of malfunctioning systems.
  • Demonstrates the skills and knowledge required to effectively and efficiently repair or replace defective components and wiring to ensure installations meet conformity.
  • Sets up necessary test equipment; conducts functional and operational tests to evaluate performance and reliability.
  • Ensures that all work performed on the aircraft is properly and completely documented and ready for inspection.
  • Complies with the company FOD program, tool control program, 6‑S program, and all safety regulations.
  • Minimum 2 years, preferred 5+ years of avionics experience.
  • Maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting experience on electrical wiring harnesses.
  • Previous cockpit avionics retrofit experience.
  • Knowledge of high voltage electrical, ESC, BMS, and batteries.
  • Previous experience managing installation teams.
  • Compliant with all environmental health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Proficient in using tools such as multimeters, crimpers, high voltage testers, calibrated tools, calipers, micrometers, torque wrenches, and other hand tools.
  • Proficient in operating man lifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and maintenance platforms.
  • Familiarity with Google Suite (Gmail, Drive, Sheets) and other basic technology.
  • Ability to get DOT driver license.
Preferred
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant license.
  • Background check clearance.
  • Drug Test clearance wherever applicable.
