Job summary

West Star Aviation Inc. is seeking an Avionics Technician (1607) for a full-time, on-site role in Reading, PA. The technician will troubleshoot and repair avionics units and aircraft systems, perform general avionics support, and coordinate with customers in project management and pricing.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in Avionics repair or installations is preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Electronics or Avionics factory training is preferred.
• A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair avionics units to component level (Navs, Coms, Pulse, Radar, Audio, Autopilot) and aircraft systems.
• Perform general avionics support items on aircraft, including removal/installation of panels and components.
• Troubleshoot and evaluate systems on the aircraft when designated.
• Inspect and evaluate the aircraft and components when designated.
• Move aircraft and verify performance of systems.
• Maintain and repair shop facility, equipment and tooling to support operations.
• Work with customers in project management, pricing and customer support roles.
• Work independently on projects.
• Communicate in English clearly (speak/write/read).
• Navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases with basic computer skills.

What you can expect as an Avionics Maintenance Technician at West Star:

Our Avionics Maintenance Technicians are responsible for troubleshooting and repairing problems to the component level on avionics units (i.e. Navs, Coms, Pulse, Radar, Audio and Autopilot Systems), as well as the aircraft systems.

You Will Be ESSENTIAL To Many FUNCTIONS Including

• Perform general avionics support items on aircraft. This shall include, but not be limited to items such as removal and installation of panels and components and repair work.
• Troubleshooting and evaluation of systems on the aircraft when designated.
• Inspection and evaluation of the aircraft and components when designated.
• Aircraft movement and performance verification of systems.
• Maintenance and repair of shop facility, equipment and tooling to support operations.
• Work with customer in project management, pricing and customer support roles.
• Work independently on projects.
• Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
• Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English
• Basic computer skills to be able to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance data bases

Your Education

What you’ll need to bring with you:

A High school diploma or equivalent.

Your Experience

1+ years of experience on Avionics repair or installations is preferred.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a hangar environment subject to extreme temperature variations from very cold to very hot.

Work outside during aircraft runs will occur.

Varied positions in and around the aircraft.

Equipment Used

Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.

Pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical equipment.

Jacks, stands, lifts and other support devices.

Tugs, power carts and other engine powered equipment.

Crimpers, soldering iron and heat guns.
