Job summary

Textron Aviation in Wichita, KS seeks an Avionics Tech for the 2nd shift to perform the less complex tasks of functional testing, troubleshooting and repairing avionics systems on board Textron Aviation aircraft at a service center. May assist higher or lower grade technicians.

Responsibilities include electrical diagnostic testing, replacing defective units and accompanying pilots for in-flight testing when required, following FAA procedures.

Job Summary

To perform the less complex tasks of functional testing, troubleshooting and repairing avionics systems on board the aircraft at a Textron Aviation Service Center. May be required to assist higher and lower grade technicians.

Job Responsibilities
  • Performs the functional testing required to isolate a customer complaint in a particular avionics system and repairing that aircraft system in accordance with FAA procedures.
  • Based on in-flight analysis and/or evaluation of information received from the customer, diagnoses problems and takes corrective action.
  • Troubleshoots problems to defective units or wiring discrepancies.
  • Replaces defective units, repairs wiring and modifies aircraft as required.
  • As required, accompanies pilot in flight to functional test repaired systems and/or aligned systems.
  • Works from aircraft orders, wiring diagrams, oral and written instructions to perform job duties.
  • Responsible only for own work.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Education

Requires a high school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level WorkKeys certification. Duties require knowledge in the field of electronics and the ability to use test equipment connected with this field. Two years college or technical school preferred.

Experience

Requires a minimum 3 years of experience in aircraft avionics systems, troubleshooting and repair.

Working Conditions

Generally good working conditions, occasionally exposed to disagreeable weather conditions.
