Job summary

Moog’s Military Aircraft Group in Mineral Wells, TX seeks an Avionics Systems Engineer to design, develop, implement and analyze complete air vehicle avionics systems. You’ll interface with customers on multiple projects and report to the Engineering Manager with an onsite schedule in Mineral Wells, TX.

The role requires a BS in a related engineering field (MS preferred), 3+ years avionics experience, and knowledge of FAA certification processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related engineering discipline (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum three years of avionics experience.
  • Knowledge of design and development processes, software and office tools.
  • Understanding of avionics certification processes (FAA and others).
  • Broad understanding of avionics systems engineering and related practices.
  • Expert knowledge of requirements management tools.
  • Able to perform engineering work in ground and flight tests.
  • U.S. work eligibility.

Responsibilities

  • Review customer requests and develop feasible design changes.
  • Analyze proposals for feasibility, manufacturability, cost and schedule.
  • Support customer development and design.
  • Perform system/software integration and testing.
  • Develop or modify testing applications to support tests.
  • Evaluate design conformance to principles and specs.
  • Support software/system development for current and legacy products.
  • Support avionics ground and flight testing.
  • Contribute to safety analyses and hazard assessments as required.
  • Support system and subsystem modeling and performance analysis.
  • Provide certification support for FAA and other authorities.

Our Moog Military Aircraft Group is looking for an Avionics Systems Engineer to be responsible for the design, development, implementation and analysis of complete air vehicle avionic systems. You’ll perform engineering design development and provide technical interface to customers on multiple projects. You will report to the Engineering Manager and will have an onsite work schedule in Mineral Wells, TX. Moog Avionics delivers customer-focused technologies and customized solutions for Special Mission, Military & Defense, Military Trainer, Business, and General Aviation industries.

To be considered for the Systems Engineer, here’s what you’ll need to bring with you:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or other significant related engineer degrees (Master’s Degree ideal).
  • Minimum three years related avionics experience and related technical professional experience.
  • Knowledge of design and development processes, software and techniques; spreadsheet software and word processing software.
  • Knowledge of the avionics certification processes for the FAA and other certification authorities, including understanding of system safety assessment process.
  • Complete understanding of an avionics systems engineering discipline and general knowledge of multiple/related job areas and industry practices and standards.
  • Expert knowledge of relevant requirements management tools.
  • Must be able to do engineering work in ground and flight test on aircraft.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.

As an Avionics Systems Engineer, you will:

  • Review and evaluate product request from customer and formulate conceptual and feasible design changes to existing products to meet customer requirements.
  • Analyze project proposal to determine feasibility, manufacturability, cost, and production time, and discusses proposal with engineers, customers and other personnel.
  • Support customer development and design.
  • Perform system/software integration activities to verify proper functionality of the products.
  • Develop new testing applications or modifies existing tools to support integration activities and formal tests.
  • Evaluate product design for conformance to engineering principles, customer requirements, quality standards, and specifications.
  • Support the software/system development activities for the company’s new and legacy product lines.
  • Support avionics systems ground and flight testing.
  • Support aircraft system safety assessment processes, including preparation of functional hazard assessments, system safety assessments, FMEAs, and fault tree analyses, as required.
  • Support system and subsystem analysis and requirements specification.
  • Support system and subsystem modelling and performance analysis.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the avionics certification processes for the FAA and other certification authorities.
  • Provide certification support for TSO and STC projects.

Salary Range Transparency:

Mineral Wells, TX $80,000.00–$100,000.00

Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
