Job summary

Tundra Technical Solutions in New Castle, Delaware, seeks an experienced Avionics Manager to lead day-to-day avionics maintenance, installation, and integration operations at our aviation facility.

Qualifications

• Eight+ years in aviation or avionics maintenance at senior technician or lead level.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of four to six avionics technicians across shop-floor and back-end operations.
• Coordinate daily technician assignments, project priorities, schedules, and maintenance workflows.
• Oversee complex avionics installations, modifications, upgrades, testing, and system integration.
• Ensure maintenance and installation work complies with FAA regulations, approved technical data, internal procedures, and quality standards.
• Coordinate with customers and internal teams to understand project requirements, communicate progress, resolve issues, and support successful delivery.
• Review project scope and assist with developing labor, material, cost, and timeline estimates.
• Review work orders, aircraft logbooks, installation data, maintenance records, and supporting technical documentation for accuracy and completeness.
• Partner with billing, finance, and commercial teams to validate completed work and support accurate customer invoicing.
• Monitor project progress, technician productivity, workmanship, and completion timelines.
• Provide technical guidance, coaching, and performance feedback to avionics technicians.
• Identify technical, scheduling, material, or staffing risks and escalate concerns when appropriate.

We are seeking an experienced Avionics Manager to lead day-to-day avionics maintenance, installation, and integration operations at an aviation facility in New Castle, Delaware.

This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for an accomplished avionics professional who combines strong technical expertise with proven supervisory experience. The Avionics Manager will oversee a team of approximately four to six technicians, coordinate maintenance activities, support client requirements, and help ensure projects are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.

The ideal candidate will have at least eight years of aviation or avionics experience, including two to five years in a lead, supervisory, or management capacity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and support a team of four to six avionics technicians across shop-floor and back-end operations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Eight or more years of aviation or avionics maintenance experience at the senior technician, subject-matter expert, or lead level.
• Two to five years of experience supervising or managing technicians, maintenance operations, or related aviation workflows.
• Proven ability to oversee a team of approximately four to six avionics technicians.
• Demonstrated experience with complex avionics installations, modifications, upgrades, testing, troubleshooting, and systems integration.
• Experience working across multiple aircraft platforms.
• Strong knowledge of avionics maintenance practices, aircraft documentation, and applicable FAA requirements.
• Appropriate certification under 14 CFR Part 65, as applicable to the responsibilities of the position and the requirements of 14 CFR § 145.153(b)(1).
• Familiarity with applicable testing and inspection requirements, including 14 CFR Part 43 Appendix E and FAR 91.207(d), 91.411, and 91.413.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, installation drawings, engineering data, work orders, and aircraft maintenance records.
• Experience coordinating technician workloads, maintenance schedules, operational priorities, and customer requirements.
• Strong leadership, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.

PROJECT SCOPING AND DOCUMENTATION REQUIREMENTS

• Working knowledge of avionics project scoping and estimate development.
• Experience developing or contributing to labor, material, cost, and timeline estimates.
• Ability to review work orders, logbooks, installation data, maintenance records, and supporting technical documentation.
• Experience collaborating with billing, finance, or commercial teams to validate completed work and support invoicing.
• Direct ownership of estimate development is preferred but not required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• A&P certification or other relevant FAA certification.
• Experience working in a Part 145 repair-station environment.
• Experience overseeing avionics shop operations from initial project intake through final documentation and delivery.
• Previous responsibility for staffing, scheduling, performance management, quality, or customer communication.
• Broad aircraft-platform experience and advanced avionics troubleshooting capability.
