Job summary

West Star Aviation is seeking an Avionics Maintenance Technician to troubleshoot and repair avionics units and aircraft systems. You will perform installation, inspection, and functional tests in a fast-paced hangar environment, coordinating with team members and customers as needed.

The role emphasizes hands-on problem solving, attention to detail, and effective communication in English, with opportunities for training and growth within a respected aviation services provider.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; electronics or avionics factory training preferred.
• Experience levels described from Tech I to Master Technician with increasing responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair avionics units to component level (Navs, Coms, Pulse, Radar, Audio, Autopilot).
• Perform general avionics support on aircraft, including removal/installation of panels and components.
• Inspect and evaluate aircraft and components; assist in project management and customer support as needed.
• Communicate effectively in English and use basic computer tools to access manuals and maintenance data.

What you can expect as an Avionics Maintenance Technician at West Star:

Our Avionics Maintenance Technicians are responsible for troubleshooting and repairing problems to the component level on avionics units (i.e. Navs, Coms, Pulse, Radar, Audio and Autopilot Systems), as well as the aircraft systems.

You will be ESSENTIAL to many FUNCTIONS including:

• Perform general avionics support items on aircraft. This shall include, but not be limited to items such as removal and installation of panels and components and repair work.
• Troubleshooting and evaluation of systems on the aircraft when designated.
• Inspection and evaluation of the aircraft and components when designated.
• Aircraft movement and performance verification of systems.
• Maintenance and repair of shop facility, equipment and tooling to support operations.
• Work with customer in project management, pricing and customer support roles.
• Work independently on projects.
• Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
• Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English
• Basic computer skills to be able to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance data bases

What you’ll need to bring with you:

Your Education

A High school diploma or equivalent. Electronics or Avionics factory training is preferred. A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.

Your Experience

Tech I

0-2 years of experience in avionics, military avionics or electrical field.

These technicians have very limited to no knowledge of the position.

This level requires close supervision and constant check ins on work performance.

Tech II

2-4 years of experience in avionics or military avionics field.

Considerable knowledge of the job with a broad understanding of detailed aspects.

Will need general supervision and instructions.

Tech III

4-6 years of experience in avionics or military avionics field.

Full knowledge of the job and complete understanding of detailed aspects.

Limited supervision is required.

No instruction needed and can act as a trainer or mentor to other technicians.

Master Technician

6+ years’ experience with corporate/business avionics systems.

Exclusive knowledge in all areas of the job.

This technician is a subject matter expert with a wide and comprehensive knowledge of the job.

Your Initiative

We’re looking for team players who are self-motivated and able to perform in a fast paced environment where working under specific deadlines and time constraints will be common. Dealing with customers and the capacity to perform work with minimal supervision will also be required.

Your Sense of Responsibility

Attend work every day as scheduled to include overtime and weekend assignments.

Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work.

Must have reliable transportation to get to work each and every day.

Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.

Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a hangar environment subject to extreme temperature variations from very cold to very hot.

Work outside during aircraft runs will occur.

Varied positions in and around the aircraft.

Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.

Pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical equipment.

Jacks, stands, lifts and other support devices.

Tugs, power carts and other engine powered equipment.

Crimpers, soldering iron and heat guns.

Personal computer and work order prints
