Avionics/Electrical Technician 3 (Weekend Nights) – GAC St. Louis

Compensation & Benefits
  • Base compensation: $34.02 – $39.69 per hour, with final compensation determined by qualifications, experience, and location.

  • Shift: Weekend Nights, Friday – Sunday 6:00pm – 6:30am (5th shift).

Position Purpose

Provides technical expertise while performing various operational, functional tests and repairs of avionics/electronic aircraft equipment and systems to ensure a defect‑free aircraft. Provides superior technical expertise in testing, troubleshooting and repairing system discrepancies to minimize schedule impact.

Essential Functions
  • Exhibit superior technical skills and expertise in avionics and aircraft systems operational testing and troubleshooting.
  • Teach installation and functional testing of electrical/avionics components and systems per engineering specifications, drawings and maintenance manuals to ensure a defect‑free system.
  • Ensure quality and efficiency of all installations – troubleshoot and teach troubleshooting processes and concepts to provide timely, quality repairs of malfunctioning systems.
  • Repair or replace defective components and wiring using acceptable practices (splicing, soldering, pinning).
  • Oversee performance and compliance with engineering changes and modifications.
  • Set up and operate necessary test equipment.
  • Conduct functional and operational tests to evaluate performance and reliability.
  • Maintain daily logs and other required paperwork.
  • Pre‑inspect work of others, prior to submission for approval, to reduce rework and inspection time.
  • Provide technical expertise in testing and maintaining test equipment and electronic systems.
  • Enforce FOD, tool control, 5‑S program and all safety regulations.
  • Adapt to sudden schedule changes.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines concerning projects.
Additional Functions
  • Teach installation and functional testing of electrical/avionics components and systems per engineering specifications.
  • Conduct self‑inspection of all avionics testing functions in applicable areas.
  • Support aircraft certification and final phase testing, including flight tests on aircraft as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Proficiency & Certifications
  • Proficiency in operation and troubleshooting of other aircraft systems (hydraulics, landing gear, flight controls, environmental controls or structural installations).
  • APU and engine run qualifications.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and schematic diagrams.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Additional Requirements
  • Blueprint efficiency.
  • Previous installation experience.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Five years of experience in an avionics or electrical career field.
  • Two years of accredited schooling in aviation electronics may offset two years of experience.
  • A & P license, FCC license or NCATT certification preferred.
